This place is very obviously a local place, and that makes me love it all the more. I'm sure the locals looking for a break from the vacationers just LOVE that!...but seriously, the value on fresh seafood and fish, plus snacky bar food, can't be beat. It can be a bit tricky to find at its current location, but not too difficult, from my perspective. Our table started with the onion rings, which were a onion-strawlike consistency and super crispy and delicious, with a remoulade. We also had the mussels, which were fresh, well prepared and with a good basic mussel sauce and crusty bread for dipping. For my entrée, I had a house salad and the clam appetizer, steamed just like the mussels. I had recently re-arrived on the island and needed as much shellfish as I could manage! They were very tasty and exactly what I was looking for, with the same crusty garlic bread (which I proved I could not be trusted around, even after I was full). Others in my party loved their entrees as well. There was a full bar with a fairly wide variety of local and craft beer, and our brownie sundae at the end was definitely big...it's a lucky thing we had four spoons to share it! The patio looked beautiful, though we sat inside. Cannot wait to show this place to the rest of my family and friends in the future.

The Dry Dock is just down the road from Harris Teeter. They have two parking lots. Don't judge a book by it's cover. The Dry Dock is a hidden gem that the locals know well. There is indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. Ultra casual, kid friendly, perfect after a long day at the beach. Good, fresh, flavorful food is inside this hidden gem. The staff greets customers with Southern Hospitality. We enjoyed everything we had at the Dry Dock. Everything is made fresh, even the sauces. I recommend the Yellowfin Tuna Meal and a cup of She-Crab Soup. Take the time to find this fun, local, out of the way treasure.

I posted a long rant of disgust with this place on Facebook. The whole experience was terrible. The food was less than was good. I ordered the crabby boil. With okra and Mac. The okra was bland. The Mac was dry and disgusting. The crab was not the best (and we were on the Hilton Head island). The waitor was so bad that my young children felt as though he did not like us. The ambiance was dull and gloomy. The food was over priced. I was so not impressed actually disappointed.

It is a bit hard to find. But it was good. Prices definitely good. I got the shrimp dinner grilled. Was very good. Got lots of shrimp. With the dinner you got 2 sides. I got the onion rings. Those were delicious. Generous portion as well. I also got the cole slaw. Creamy and good as well. Others in my party got the ribs and those were good. And the southern grilled sandwich. Got rave reviews. I'd go back. Love that it's off the beaten path. Means no wait. Even better on a busy night in HHI.

The ribs are not the best, maybe it's a frozen taste. The fried chicken sandwich tasted like peanut oil. The staff was great and there are lots of TVs to watch football.

Great dinner experience. Vickie took great care of us, we enjoyed excellent fried grouper, mussels, steam pots and other great items. Onion straws were especially yummy. Ended with key lime pie, it was creamy and delicious. Highly recommended.

Awesome food and service. Vickie took excellent care of us. The grouper (Vickie's Grouper) was phenomenal. The beer was cold. Give it a try. We My partner and I were visiting for the weekend. We got there just as they were closing, but Vickie was so accommodating despite the fact that the kitchen was closing. Love her!

This place gives new meaning to "off the beaten path" since it is hidden in a mostly deserted office park. We found it a few years ago and really enjoy it. The owner may be your waiter here where prices are very reasonable. Don't come for the scenery but do come for the food. Simple and really tasty. The Birdman grouper sandwich is a favorite. The pork sandwich is full of flavor. They make their own ketchup here too. Give it a try!!

We love this place! A local place a little hard to find but great food at reasonable prices. Mostly seafood but other good stuff too. Very friendly and chatty staff. Nice patio!

Local hangout with good food. Off the beaten path so you have to use your GPS if you are not familiar with the island. Four of us for lunch - (2) kids meals chicken fingers and a cheeseburger, grouper sandwich and a tuna burger. Tasty wasabi mayo on the tuna. Sides are an additional price for the regular menu items and we tried the onion straws - yum! Kids meals are $5 and include sides. We sat on the deck and enjoyed our meal. Worth a lunch stop again.

Hard as he'll to find. I wanted to give up, but my husband was determined due to tons of good reviews In the local papers. We finally found the place, was cute on the back patio. We dined inside which was fine but on the small side. Our server was an older woman with not an ounce of personality a and clearly she did not want to be there. She couldn't even give my husband a recommendation on what to get. So far, not good. I ordered the steam pot...didn't think you could mess that up. Yep, I was wrong. Everything piece of seafood was over cooked. I wound up leaving an entire crab cluster. Was horrible. The corn was ice cold. I have to say... The coleslaw was the only thing totally fine. I would not recommend this place to eat at.

Had lunch here and quite a place. Apparently they were short handed as the owner was waiting tables. We sat in the bar and it was like being in Cheers. Everyone knew everyone. One of the locals even moved behind the bar and was making drinks for the owner. Food was really good. I had the fish, very large portion and right out of the fryer. Wife had the shrimp and they were good as well. Wasn't on the level of a true seafood place and if we had been sitting at a table, we would probably have rated the service lower. The owner came and took our order ahead of a party of about eight so we could get served quickly. Great local place, fun atmosphere but probably not a top end place to eat....

Worst meal ever! I cannot believe I did not remember to check the reviews before we went. Adult daughter and I (who are not hefty eaters) shared the steam pot for 1 and had the hot shot shrimp appetizer. After ordering we read the reviews here and were hoping the appetizer would not be the highlight of our meal. It was acceptable but not as good as bam bam shrimp we have had elsewhere. Steam pot was a huge disappointment. First it has to be already cooked and frozen because the inside area of the crab legs (where legs connect) was cold! Shrimp cannot be fresh either; slimy tasting and gray in areas. I actually could not eat some of it. Corn was mushy, cole slaw was dripping in dressing and portion was very small for $25. Noticed one and only table besides ours was locals with no one eating seafood; mainly burgers. We will never ever return. $41 down the drain and we were still hungry (usually we can share with an appetizer and be full at other restaurants). We went to Panera Bread and shared a panini - that was good and hot like it is supposed to be! Do not go here for seafood!

Tucked away and probably a little hard to find. Outdoor dining was nice, but a little buggy. The food was the star - fresh and very good. Not so good? Noisy barflies. Local is good in a tourist town, but the locals need to mind their manners.

Sometimes, a good off-the-beaten-path, local joint can rival even the fanciest tourist destination restaurants. Drydock fits the bill beautifully. Our waitress was the wife of the owner, and she showed tremendous pride in the restaurant, answering our every question with thoughtful and intentional recommendations. She was extremely attentive and through familir banter and more-than-superficial conversation, we felt like friends by the end of the meal. For the price, the food was superb. We ordered the Grover fries (a gourmet twist on traditional cheese fries) and my wife and I split the seafood boil for two which was more that we could eat of crab legs, mussels, clams, shrimp, and veggies. It was GREAT. Had key lime pie for dessert, which you could tell was hand-made with tremendous pride. Nothing came out of the kitchen that wouldnt pass a chef's inspection, which is special for a restaurant that feels little more than a small, local bar. Loved this place and would come again in a heartbeat.

Good food, good price. Grilled Tuna Caesar was very good, Shrimp Po Boys was good - would be better if there was a homemade sauce to accompany instead of generic tarter sauce or cocktail sauce. Drydock, check out Guy Fieri's Miss Dixie's Remoulade recipe. That would make the Po Boy excellent. Service was a little slow - 55 min for sandwiches and salads.

A good and local dive bar and restaurant off the beaten path. The seafood is good and they have a nice mix of draft beers. Dining room looks a bit small but there is an inside and outside bar. The boiler pot was good, it had more in it than I thought so that's always a bonus. The Philly cheesesteak is really good as well if not looking for seafood. I really liked this place and I plan on going back.

Local hangout tucked in to a little strip of shops off the beaten path, bit definitely worth stopping in. A little uninviting from the front, but decent dining room further back and outdoor bar and dining all the way in back. Dining room a little dive-like, but clean and orderly. Friendly and accommodating service by manager. Some of the best food we had during our week there. Nothing fancy, but fresh and high quality ingredients. Didn't get to visit the outdoor area as it was raining, but looks like it would be a good spot for drinks and a casual evening. We've been visiting HHI for 15 years and Dry Dock is now on our revisit list.

This is definitely a hard place to find as it really is tucked in off of the beaten path. Other than the very small dinning area, this place is definitely worth the price. Don't go thirsty, because you only get one refill.

If my appetizer wasn't good I would have given this place no stars. I ordered grilled grouper, but got sauteed Tilapia. Not sure if they thought they could fool a out-of-towner, but what I got was not grouper. I know fish! I was really hoping for good food, but none of us were very happy.
